You never really know what can happen in the wild and wonderful world of professional wrestling. One minute you can be expecting a rather exciting reunion of one of WWE’s most famous stables of the Modern Era and then the next Roman Reigns gets the mumps and things can get thrown all out of whack.

WWE officials really needed to scramble when the changes to TLC were thrown at them unexpectedly. It would have been an interesting time to be a fly on the wall in Vince McMahon’s office. Then again it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of Vince McMahon’s office at any time because the man is fascinating.

But Roman Reigns wasn’t the only guy who needed to be replaced at TLC because The Eater Of Worlds was also out of action due to illness. Bray Wyatt’s scheduled opponent at TLC was Finn Balor and this match promised to be something worth making fun of. Don’t get me wrong, I love both of these guys but it’s really no secret the feud was stale and even WWE’s Hail Mary of resurrecting Sister Abigail wasn’t doing it… the orange “Tiger Demon” bodypaint Finn Balor teased didn’t really help either.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports Chirs Jericho was actually called to replace Bray Wyatt at TLC. However, his commitments to Fozzy meant he couldn’t make the show. We can only assume Jericho would have jumped on the first flight to Minneapolis if he didn’t have his Fozzy shows. But they’re still hitting the road promoting the Judas record and if you haven’t heard it yet, this one’s worth a listen.

Of course, WWE called AJ Styles to come in and work the show. The rest, as they say, is history. It all worked out for the best in the end but we can only assume a match between Finn Balor and Chris Jericho would have been pretty epic too.
