For years the titantron was a huge part of WWE programming as the screen helped set the tone as the stars of WWE made their entrance. Everybody knows that in the world of professional wrestling a good entrance can go a long way, and over the years WWE entrances have changed, as have the sets and stages for televised WWE events.
For decades it was common for WWE to show highlight videos of wrestlers on the titantron while the talent made their entrances. However, as WWE has scaled down their set over the years those videos have been eliminated.
During a recent Fightful Select Q&A a fan asked why WWE no longer uses titantron videos featuring highlights of the wrestlers, and it was noted that one of the reasons for the change was a difference in philosophies over the years.
Another reason was that during a round of cutbacks the role of having someone edit and update those videos was eliminated. The role was never brought back and moving forward without the videos simply became the trend.
When it comes to production it seems that WWE is always open to trying new things, but it’s probably safe to say that a number of fans are missing the titantron videos, so it will be interesting to see if WWE eventually brings them back someday.
