Everybody knows that in the world of professional wrestling a good entrance theme can go a long way. Christian has used several entrance themes over the years and his “Just Close Your Eyes” theme performed by Waterproof Blonde has always been a fan favorite.
Back in 2010 the song was re-recorded by Story of the Year, and fans have often wondered why WWE decided to move on from the original version of the theme.
In a recent Fightful Select Q&A it was noted that Vince McMahon made the call to change Christian’s WWE entrance theme from Waterproof Blonde to Story of the Year because he believed men who were babyfaces shouldn’t have female singers for their entrance themes.
It was also noted that people who were in the WWE music department during that era said it cost the company substantially more money to have the song re-done by an active, popular music group rather than just using the Waterproof Blonde version.
Currently Christian is working in All Elite Wrestling alongside Adam Copeland. They recently challenged FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the Dynasty pay-per-view, but unfortunately for Christian & Cope it was FTR who walked out with the gold.
