Jey Uso has been climbing up the ranks in WWE over the last few years and he took his career to the next level earlier this month when he won the Royal Rumble match.
Following his Royal Rumble win Jey stated during the post-show press conference that he wanted another shot at Gunther, but he refrained from making a final decision.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Gunther attacked Jey Uso when he least expected it, and he powerbombed Jey in the middle of the ring. After getting attacked by The Ring General, Jey officially announced that he will be challenging Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41 in April.
Fightful Select reports that Jey Uso had been planned to win the 30 man Royal Rumble match for quite a while. The idea that Gunther would be his opponent at WrestleMania was something that had been decided even before Jey and Gunther faced off at Saturday Night’s Main Event in January.
