You never know what can happen in WWE and while it’s impossible to rule anything out, there is always the chance that something is just too good to be true. With John Cena desperate for a WrestleMania opponent, it looks like he’s willing to do anything to secure a match at the Show Of Shows including jumping brands in order to squeeze his way into the main event of Fastlane.
There were recent reports saying Rey Mysterio is actually in line for another WrestleMania Moment this year. We previously reported Justin Barrasso said The Undertaker wasn’t making Mania this year and Rey Mysterio was contacted to fill in for the Dead Man.
It was also reported Mysterio was backstage at SmackDown Live this week. But PW Insider has put a stop to those rumors because according to them, Mr. 6-1-9 was not there last night.
It was reported by PW Insider that the talks between WWE and Mysterio are rather high at this point after his amazing reception at the Royal Rumble which dwarfed Ronda Rousey’s debut in regards to social media numbers. But they were unable to confirm anything concerning a possible match against Cena at Mania.
It was also reported Triple H is the point person in talks with Mysterio and things seem to be going well. But we must consider the fact that Mysterio still has bookings all over the place including a rather big date for New Japan coming up in Long Beach at Strong Style Evolved on March 25th.
There are still some who believe The Undertaker will be back and this might be a red herring in the mix to throw some fans off. But it appears that Rey Mysterio wasn’t backstage in Los Angeles at the Staples Center hashing out a deal to appear at Mania although he did make the Blue Brand’s San Diego house show earlier this week, so who knows what they talked about there?
