Brock Lesnar made quite the statement on Sunday night when he managed to defeat The Monster Among Men Braun Strowman to retain his Universal Championship at No Mercy.

Braun was perhaps the toughest challenge that Brock has ever faced, given that he was much bigger and perhaps stronger than the former UFC Champion. It seems that WWE has decided to make Brock’s next challenger the complete opposite of Strowman, since it could be Finn Balor who steps up to challenge Brock next.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE could be set to hand The Demon a one-on-one Universal Championship shot at the title that he never lost back in the Summer of 2016. This shot will come after Balor has finished up his current feud with Bray Wyatt, which could see its climax at TLC next month.

Meltzer speculates as to whether the plan is for the match to happen at Survivor Series or possibly next year at the Royal Rumble, since it is thought that Brock Lesnar may not wrestle on pay-per-view again until 2018.

It will be interesting to see if WWE manage to convince The Beast to return for a match with the inaugural champion at Survivor Series in November, before what would be the start of a lengthy feud between Roman Reigns and Lesnar heading into WrestleMania season next year.
