Wrestling retirements have been discussed heavily over the last year or so as Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles have all hung up their boots for good.
At WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar shocked the world when he left his boots and gloves in the ring then said goodbye to the fans after he was defeated by Oba Femi on the Grandest Stage of Them All. However, Brock’s retirement turned out to be a ruse as he returned to WWE a few weeks later to continue his rivalry with Oba Femi.
Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi will be facing off in their third match against one another at SummerSlam this weekend, and Triple H teased on Busted Open Radio that The Beast Incarnate could be calling it a day after his match with The Ruler.
“It’s really in his court as to what he wants to do. For Brock, there’s always gas left in the tank. I believe he is one of those generational athletes. It’s just a matter of, is this the right time for him?
It all comes down to what does he see next for Brock? The great ones know when to call it a day. Brock will know, but he’ll tell us in real-time, live in Minnesota at SummerSlam. If there’s a desire to see it, if the fans want to see it, if there’s a way to get it done, WWE will get it done. That’s what we do.”
It’s been rumored for some time now that Brock could be retiring at SummerSlam, and John Cena teased The Beast’s retirement a few months ago during an interview when he said, “This attraction where we are going to build until he goes into the sunset, which is, I think, in Minnesota? Creatively, it’s very soon.”
Only time will tell if Brock’s match at SummerSlam this weekend will really be his last.
