Over the last few years a number of WWE stars have been released, and Fightful Select recently reported that Duke Hudson had been let go. According to the report Hudson was quietly released from his contract in January.

Hudson had been with WWE for six years and spent most of his run with the company working in NXT. Dave Meltzer addressed the release on Wrestling Observer Radio and claimed that Triple H didn’t see Duke Hudson as a main roster guy.

“Levesque is the one who makes the calls and for whatever reason, he didn’t see Duke as a main roster guy. So at some point when you’re 34 and you don’t see him as a main roster guy and he’d been there for six years, it’s kind of like that’s the way it works.”

Originally Hudson signed with WWE in 2019 and worked under his real name, Brendan Vink. In 2020 he and Shane Thorne worked together as a tag team managed by MVP on Raw, but his main roster run was short lived.

The Duke Hudson name was introduced in 2021 and Hudson went on to join Chase University in NXT. Chase U disbanded back in November and WWE stopped using Duke Hudson shortly after.
