WrestleMania season was big this year as John Cena returned to TV a few weeks before the big event to set up his match with United States Champion Austin Theory. During their first face to face encounter John Cena eviscerated Theory on the mic, and Theory noted during an appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin that he was warned by other wrestlers that he needed to be ready.

“Yeah, you know, Miz, Baron Corbin, sounds like all the bad guys (are who told me to be ready for my in-ring segment with John Cena). They’re just like, ‘Man, just be ready. You’re gonna get thrown out there in some deep water. Just be prepared’ but, you know, I had my cool sneakers on and my shades that he talked trash about and I was feeling good. I was like, I came out here with one thing in mind and I got it. So, you know, telling me people don’t believe in me, alright John. I’m gonna make you believe. I’m gonna make them all stop believing in you.”

Luckily for Austin Theory he was able to retain his title when he picked up a major victory over John Cena on the Grandest Stage of Them All. There’s no denying that it’s been a big year for Theory as he was also aligned with Vince McMahon on WWE programming for a period of time. At one point Vince shortened Austin Theory’s name, and he explained how the conversation went.

“I don’t know why, but I felt like for some reason as a kid, this is something I envisioned, I always felt like when I met Mr. McMahon, he was gonna go, your name’s Austin Theory? Theory? What? Why aren’t you a fact? Like when you beat people, it’s a fact, not a theory. What? But that never happened so, he just said, ‘You’ll just be Theory.’”

Austin Theory will be in action this week on Raw when he faces off against Bobby Lashley. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
