John Cena kicked off his retirement tour last month and he has made it clear that he’ll be hanging up his boots for good once 2025 comes to an end. With Cena openly stating that he plans to retire a number of WWE stars have come forward to address a potential match with the former champion.
In recent months John Cena has teased that he’s on a quest to win his 17th WWE World Championship. Currently Gunther is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and he recently told Daily Mail that he would love to crush Cena’s dreams.
“It’s the last chance to get in the ring with him, so if that ever becomes a possibility, I would definitely take that. John Cena is obviously one of the wrestlers, you can put him onto Mount Rushmore.”
“If I get the chance, I would definitely like to do that. Let’s see how it plays out. Maybe I can end up as his last chance to win a championship at some point in that year, and I can be the one that crushes all those dreams. That would be very enjoyable.”
At this point it remains to be seen if Gunther and John Cena will cross paths before Cena’s retirement tour comes to an end. One way or another Cena won’t be facing Gunther at WrestleMania 41 as Jey Uso recently declared that he will be challenging The Ring General for his title on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year.
