When CM Punk made his debut with All Elite Wrestling back in August of 2021 it was a big moment for the company and CM Punk as well. Fans waited seven long years to see Punk return to wrestling and AEW is the company that managed to bring him back.

Following his return to professional wrestling CM Punk went on to become a two time AEW World Champion, but his run with the company came to an end back in September when Tony Khan announced Punk’s contract had been terminated due to a backstage incident at All In.

Since then Tony Khan has remained mostly tight lipped on the CM Punk situation. However, he recently spoke to NY Post about Punk and he credited The Second City Saint for his contributions to the company.

“The First Dance was an incredible moment in wrestling and was part of a very important time in AEW. All Out 2021, along with All In, are our biggest pay-per-views of all time and we’ve had a lot of great success as a company as a team and in some of the most exciting times, CM Punk has been a big part of that team.”

CM Punk made his big return to WWE over the weekend at Survivor Series then followed up with an appearance on Raw. It’s not known when Punk will be appearing on WWE programming again, but he’s expected to feud with Seth Rollins at some point in the future.

Stay tuned for updates.
