WrestleMania 34 was loaded with big matches, but one huge star who wasn’t part of the card this year was The Rock. Leading up to WrestleMania 34, there were a lot of rumors going around in regards to The Great One’s status, but ultimately he didn’t end up working the show.
The former WWE Champion did however recently confirm during an interview with KISS FM UK that Vince McMahon did reach out to him about wrestling on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
According to The Rock, Vince wanted him to team up with Ronda Rousey, but he just couldn’t make it work.
“Matter of fact, Vince McMahon and I were talking about two months ago trying to figure out what I was going to do if I went back to WrestleMania,” The Rock said via Fightful. “He pitched me this really great idea that I’d get involved in a tag match with Ronda Rousey who is of course incredible and I’m very proud of her. We couldn’t make it work this time because I was in Shanghai. But, Who knows down line?”
It’s a shame that The Rock didn’t end up appearing at WrestleMania this year, but Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey made a great team.
As for the future, it sounds like he’s not counting out a return to the ring, so there’s always next year.
