Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil are gunning for the Raw Tag Team Titles, but WWE decided to make a big change this week when they shortened Apollo Crews’ name to simply Apollo. This follows a recent trend of WWE giving certain Superstars one word names such as Elias, Cesaro, Rusev and others.
Prior to joining WWE, Apollo was known as Uhaa Nation, and when he was dubbed Apollo Crews, fans immediately recognized that his name appeared to be a mash up of Apollo Creed and Terry Crews.
It was reported that the reason why WWE changed Apollo’s name had to do with the recent school shooting in Florida, but a fan on Twitter made a different claim.
The fan claimed that WWE dropped the last name because there’s heat between WWE and actor Terry Crews. Terry responded by saying he has nothing but respect for Apollo, but WWE stole his name.
I like and respect Apollo and wish him well— but The @WWE stole my name in the first place. https://t.co/PLqsPBhs0o

Terry Crews then went on to say that he was in talks with WWE, but negotiations broke down.

Another fan suggested that Terry missed out on the chance to form a tag team with Apollo, but Crews responded by saying he doesn’t work for free.
