WWE Friday Night SmackDown was filmed in Bologna, Italy and the show featured a big return. After the opening segment Sami Zayn was talking to Nick Aldis backstage and Nick told Sami he had a meeting to attend to. Chad Gable then made his return to WWE programming and entered Nick’s office for the meeting.
Later in the show Fraxiom were talking to AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix, and he told them that he wants to defend his title all over the world, so if they want a shot all they have to do is ask.
Chad Gable approached them and asked if he could have a moment alone with Rey Fenix. Gable told Fenix that they had a great match at WrestleMania when he was working as El Grande Americano, but he owes him an apology for making a mockery of lucha libre. He said he flew to Italy to apologize to Fenix. Rey Fenix told Gable that he forgives him, but to remember that he’s not the only person he offended.
Gable has been working as the Original El Grande Americano since 2025, but his run as that character came to an end when he lost the mask vs. mask match last weekend. Now Gable is back to his normal self and it appears that he will be part of the SmackDown brand moving forward.
