The Broken Hardys were one of the most popular acts in Impact Wrestling. The Broken Universe took over the promotion in 2016 and at Bound For Glory the team procured the TNA Tag Team Titles.

The titles ended up in a bit of a sticky situation earlier this week because Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero were still the champions when they parted ways with the company. It was reported that the brothers tried to work out a situation that would allow them to drop the titles the right way, but Impact officials refused because they didn’t want them to appear on television without signing a deal.
Somehow the belts were returned to Impact Wrestling and the situation was addressed during the Impact tapings on Friday night.
During their run with Impact Wrestling, The Broken Hardys earned the right to call themselves the greatest team in all of space and time when they won Tag Team Apocalypto. However, Impact is clearly taking the tag team division in a different direction, as Bruce Prichard told the fans that titles are won in the ring, not space.
Update 13: Prichard, titles are won in the ring not in space. No one knows who tag champs are. Going to find out.

Prichard then declared that new champions will be crowned via a two week tournament that will include four teams.

Decay then came out to interrupt and they were interrupted by Reno Scum. Laredo Kid and Garza Jr. then made their way out and all three teams were beat down by LAX.
