elimination chamber

Prior to SmackDown on Tuesday it was announced that Shane McMahon would be making a huge announcement. Shane McMahon made his way down to the ring at the beginning of the show, and he announced that the WWE Championship will be defended inside the Elimination Chamber in Phoenix, AZ on Sunday, February 12th.

As soon as Shane McMahon made the announcement, AJ Styles’ music hit, and he started questioning the SmackDown Live Commissioner about the Elimination Chamber match. AJ Styles told Shane McMahon that he should consult the champ before he makes decisions like that, and the crowd chanted AJ’s name.

AJ Styles and Shane McMahon continued to go back and forth on the microphone until they were interrupted by John Cena.

AJ Styles asked who was going to steal his spotlight next and The Miz came out and told AJ to consider his spotlight stolen. AJ told The Miz the best thing he could do for his career is stay away from him and the Elimination Chamber match. Miz told AJ that while he was away from WWE growing his hair to look like a soccer mom, he was beating up John Cena before beating up John Cena was cool.

Things got heated between The Miz and AJ Styles, so SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon announced a singles match between the two stars to kick off the show.

Judging from the opening segment of SmackDown, it looks like AJ Styles, John Cena and The Miz will likely end up being a part of the Elimination Chamber match, but that hasn’t been confirmed as of this writing.

AJ Styles is set to defend his WWE Championship against John Cena at the Royal Rumble on January 29th, so we’ll have to wait and see who walks in the Elimination Chamber with the title around their waist.
