ronda rousey

Ronda Rousey is now a WWE Superstar, and she’s set to make her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 when she teams with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Even though Ronda has said that she’s focused on professional wrestling right now, there are still plenty of people out there who want to know if she may return to MMA in the future.

Rousey was recently a guest on ESPN Radio’s Golic and Wingo, and one of the hosts asked her when she knew she wasn’t going to fight anymore and she responded by saying, “I never said that.”

The interviewer then asked if there’s a possibility that she could go back in time, meaning back to MMA, and she responded by saying, “I do not have the ability to go back in time, no.”

Rousey later appeared on First Take, and Max Kellerman asked her about the backlash she received after she lost in UFC.

“You became such a big deal that when you lost, it was like the Earth stopped spinning on its axis,” Kellerman said. “And that’s the part I chose to focus on after your loss in the UFC. When you achieved such heights, that one loss, the whole world stopped and noticed it. Why do you think there was a kind of negative backlash to you after the loss?”

Ronda looked puzzled and responded by saying, “um.”

Kellerman pressed on saying, “You must be aware in the MMA world there was a lot of talk, ‘she’s overrated.’ My point of view was at the time, and remains: that you achieved amazing heights. Almost no one wins forever. Everyone suffers setbacks. But there seems to be an unusual amount of negative pushback after the loss. Did you experience that?”

“I experience a lot of people who quote ‘some people’ who are really just afraid to state their own opinion,” Rousey replied.

“Do you think that’s my opinion?” Kellerman asked. “That’s not my opinion. I can tell you that right now. That’s not my opinion. I thought you achieved amazing things. I was and am a big fan of your fighting and of you. That’s not me saying some people meaning me. That’s me saying I read and heard from others and defended you.”

“Well thank you for defending me. I appreciate that,” Ronda responded.

It was kind of an uncomfortable moment, and you can experience it for yourself in the clip below.
