WWE has released a number of Superstars over the last few years, but the release of Mandy Rose was arguably one of the most shocking ones for the wrestling world to process. Mandy dropped the NXT Women’s Championship after a 413 day reign and it was later reported that the company let her go due to some of the content posted on her FanTime account.
Prior to her return to NXT in 2021 Rose had been part of the main roster for years and at WrestleMania 35 she competed in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal. However, it sounds like WWE originally had different plans for her at the event.
Former WWE writer Dave Schilling recently noted on Twitter that original plans for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 35 called for Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville and Asuka to face off in a triple threat match.
“FYI the SmackDown women’s title match at WrestleMania was supposed to be Mandy Rose vs Sonya Deville vs. Asuka.”

Obviously that’s not what happened as both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship were on the line in the main event which saw Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair face off. Ultimately Becky Lynch walked out with both of the belts.
Mandy Rose has yet to return to the world of wrestling since her release in December, and it’s not clear at this point in time if she has any plans to return to the ring. Stay tuned for updates.
