Last week WWE’s deal with Endeavor officially closed and WWE merged with UFC to form TKO. The new company’s ticker was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and rumors of major cuts started making the rounds. It’s believed that over 100 people were let go last week due to the mass-layoffs in WWE with former Executive Vice President of Development and Digital Jamie Horowitz being one of the names who was cut.

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked a little bit about the cuts and he noted that there was a lot of negativity surrounding Jamie Horowitz when he was first hired.

“Over 100 layoffs on Friday. They gutted divisions, it was basically analytics, marketing, and I guess the idea is UFC already has those departments and they can handle both. So those were two of the departments really hard hit. Jamie Horowitz was let go. He was the biggest name, he was one of Nick Khan’s first major hires off of DAZN when Nick Khan was stripping DAZN.

“There was a lot of negativity when he was hired, a lot of women employees, because of his rep(utation) from ESPN, were not happy. And he wasn’t really well liked in WWE from what I understand anyway. But he was a major exec there.”

Stay tuned for more updates on WWE cuts as they become available.
