In recent weeks business has been picking up in the WWE women’s tag team division. Becky Lynch & Lita won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on the road to WrestleMania 39, and last week on Raw, Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez defeated Becky Lynch & Trish Stratus to win the belts after Lita was mysteriously attacked backstage.
In the months heading into WrestleMania 39 it was rumored that plans called for Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at the big event, but ultimately that didn’t happen and they still haven’t had their title reign.
Rousey & Baszler aren’t anywhere near the title picture right now as it was recently determined that Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville will be stepping up to challenge Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez for the belts. Dave Meltzer recently addressed the title situation on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that new teams are being inserted into the picture because Ronda Rousey is still not cleared.
“Ronda’s still not cleared, so they can’t do the Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler thing, which was the plan.”
There’s currently no word on when Ronda Rousey will be cleared, but it will be interesting to see if Rousey & Baszler finally get their title run when she’s back in action.
