Drew McIntyre last stepped into the ring at WrestleMania 39 when he faced off against Gunther and Sheamus in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship, but unfortunately for McIntyre it was Gunther who walked out with the gold. McIntyre was then pulled from the following episode of SmackDown due to a health issue, and he was absent from last week’s episode of SmackDown as well.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the word going around this weekend is that Drew McIntyre is not expected to return to in-ring competition for at least a few more weeks.

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about Drew McIntyre’s status with WWE moving forward as it’s been reported that The Scottish Warrior’s WWE contract is set to expire later this year and he has not agreed to a new deal.

The two sides are said to be far apart on money, but there’s plenty of time for WWE and Drew to potentially sort things out, so it will be interesting to see how things unfold in the months to come. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
