WrestleMania 39 is set to air live from SoFi Stadium next weekend and the show will once again be a two night event this year. Over the last few weeks there’s been a lot of speculation regarding which matches will take place on night 1 and night 2 with a lot of talk about the main event. This week on Friday Night SmackDown, WWE confirmed the opening match for WrestleMania Saturday when it was confirmed that show will open with John Cena vs. Austin Theory for the United States Championship.

John Cena recently made his return to WWE programming when he appeared on Raw a few weeks ago and Austin Theory immediately challenged him to a match on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Cena has spent a lot of years working in the main event at WrestleMania, now it looks like WWE is looking to open the show in a big way by putting him in the opening match.
