The stars of NXT brought the action to Highland Heights on Thursday night, but unfortunately one of NXT’s top stars got injured during the event.
Aaron Varble of StillRealToUs.com is currently in attendance at the live event and he’s reporting that Tommaso Ciampa may have suffered an injury during a tag team match which featured Team DIY facing off against Sanity. Ciampa took a dive off the apron to the outside and then the referee threw up the dreaded “X” symbol and the match had to be stopped.
This is really unfortunate timing for Ciampa, as Team DIY are set to challenge for the NXT Tag Team Titles in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on Saturday. There’s currently no word on whether or not Team DIY will be pulled from the event, but usually when a match has to be stopped at a live event it’s not a good sign.
Varble was able to capture video of the match and it appears that Tommaso Ciampa suffered some sort of leg injury as it looks like he was going for a running knee off the apron before he was injured.
You can check out a video clip from the match below, and stay tuned for updates on Tommaso Ciampa’s condition.
