MJF put his hair on the line when he challenged Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing last month, and MJF managed to defeat Darby to become a three time AEW World Champion.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman now has a target on his back as multiple AEW stars have made it very clear that they want a shot at the title. He put the title on the line when he successfully defended the belt against Rush on Dynamite this week, but it appears that MJF suffered an injury in the process.

Originally MJF was set to face off against Bobby Orlando at Beyond Wrestling’s event in Cranston, Rhode Island on June 5th. However, the company announced that MJF hyperextended his knee during his match with Rush on Dynamite this week, and is not currently cleared to compete or travel.

Beyond Wrestling posted the following:

“Unfortunately @The_MJF hyperextended his knee during his match last night & is not medically cleared to travel or compete. He will not be in Cranston tomorrow night but assured me he will wrestle for Beyond Wrestling as soon as his schedule allows. We wish him a speedy recovery.”

It’s not clear at this point when MJF will be cleared, but we wish him a speedy recovery.
