This weekend history will be made as the first ever WWE United Kingdom Champion will be crowned. Some of the most talented stars from the United Kingdom will be participating in the tournament including Mark Andrews.

Some people were surprised when Mark Andrews was announced for the tournament because he was a TNA regular in 2016. Andrews recently spoke to ESPN about parting ways with TNA, and he says that the time was right for him to try new things.

“I had a great time in TNA, but I decided it was time to finish up with them to try and take a bet on myself, because the UK has been such a hot spot for wrestling. Fortunately for me, literally instantly after my contract was up, this opportunity came around, so it was kind of perfect timing.”

Although some talents leave TNA with a bad impression of the company, Mark Andrews had nothing but good things to say about TNA, and he wished everyone involved with the company the best of luck in the future.

“I had a great two years with TNA — there were no hard feelings when I left. There’s a lot of incredible talent in that company. Not just with the roster, but the staff and everyone involved. I think a lot of rumors online make it seem a lot worse there than it actually is. I just wish them the best of luck, and I really hope they can carry on doing well.”

Finn Balor’s protege Jordan Devlin will also be competing in the United Kingdom Championship tournament this weekend, and he recently spoke to Sky Sports about what fans can expect from his style, and you can see what he had to say below.

“My style is a mix of everything – I have picked up influences from everywhere. As a young man, it would have been the catch-as-catch-can style of holds but when I went to Japan for six months at the age of 21 I picked up the strong style and now incorporate suplexes and strikes.”
