Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis are one of professional wrestling’s power couples, and they recently parted ways with Impact Wrestling. Mike and Maria debuted in January of 2016, and they played big roles in the company, as Maria was at one point in charge of the Knockouts Division, and Mike feuded with several top stars and even managed to capture the X-Division Championship.
Now Mike and Maria are on the hunt for new opportunities, and it was recently reported that they’ve been offered WWE contracts and they could be arriving on the SmackDown Live brand in the weeks to come.
Several top names have parted ways with Impact Wrestling over the past few months such as The Hardys, Drew McIntyre and more. Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis recently spoke to Main Event Radio about their departure, and Maria says that although they had a good run with the company, it was time for them to move on.
“It was wonderful there. We had a great time. We worked with the best talent in the world. They were fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves,” Maria explained. “It was just time to go. We’re excited to see where the road leads us next. Maybe the moon. Maybe I’ll go back and be a manager at Jimmy John’s.”
Mike Bennett also added that it was time for a change, and he played coy in regards to what’s next.
“It was time for a change. Leaving all the talent was the hardest part. We’ll go somewhere; if not we’ll be living on the street in a box.”
