The annual Night of Champions premium live event is quickly approaching and the show is set to feature the King and Queen of the Ring finals. This week on Friday Night SmackDown, Charlotte Flair faced off against Liv Morgan in a Queen of the Ring semifinal match, and it was Morgan who picked up the win.
Ahead of the match Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab were waiting for Charlotte Flair backstage. They exchanged some words with Charlotte then walked off, but they attacked The Queen as she was just about to walk through the curtain. Cargill, B-Fab and Michin targeted Charlotte’s knee. Charlotte then sold a knee injury as the show went to commercial.
When the show returned Nick Aldis and Alexa Bliss checked on Charlotte as Liv Morgan walked by and laughed. After Liv made her entrance Charlotte insisted that they play her music and she limped her way to the ring as Nick Aldis tried to talk her out of it.
Before Charlotte could even get in the ring Liv attacked her knee. Medical officials came out to check on Charlotte and Nick Aldis once again tried to talk her out of competing in the match.
After the bell rang Charlotte struggled as Liv just continued to target her knee for several minutes. Eventually Charlotte managed to get herself to the top rope then she jumped off and hit Liv with Natural Selection for a two count. Flair locked in the Figure Four, but Liv reversed it on her. Charlotte reversed it again and Liv grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold.
Liv Morgan applied a single leg Boston Crab to Charlotte’s bad knee. Charlotte tried to crawl to the ropes as Liv dragged her back to the middle of the ring. Flair got to the ropes then rolled out of the ring as Alexa Bliss, Nick Aldis and medical staff tried to convince her not to return to the ring.
Morgan tried to grab Charlotte and pull her back into the ring. Charlotte fought back and Liv caught her with Oblivion when she got back in the ring. Flair kicked out and Liv made Charlotte tap when she locked in the single leg Boston Crab again.
