Kevin Owens is a fantastic heel. He’s so good it’s hard to hate him and honestly, he’ll probably never get people to hate him with the enthusiasm that he would have gotten in an earlier incarnation of the wrestling business. The fact is fans are jaded and cynical at this point, therefore they often appreciate a good heel promo more than one from an incredible babyface.
In Allentown, Pensylvania on 3/18/17 Kevin Owens took the mic before his tag match with Samoa Joe against Sami Zayn and Finn Balor and he let his WrestleMania opponent have it.
Even though Chris Jericho wasn’t in the match, KO didn’t let it stop him from hitting Y2J with plenty of verbal missiles. The city of Allentown itself even received some collateral damage in the process.
Kevin insulted the city for wishing they were Canadian all the while forgetting to mention his WrestleMania dance partner, Jericho is also a Canuck. It was still a masterful heel promo, but all the while you can hear pockets of the crowd who were behind Kevin with every word he spoke.

This second-to-none microphone work didn’t help Kevin’s team win the match, though, nor did it save Owens from taking a brutal Coup de Grace from Finn Balor in the final blow of their tag match. But, hats off to KO for laying down the thick heel heat in Allentown. Kevin Owens is going to make an outstanding United States Champion, to say the least.
