In recent months there’s been a lot of talk about backstage drama in AEW and CM Punk certainly hasn’t helped the situation by venting his frustrations openly on social media. Recently CM Punk claimed that Jon Moxley refused to lose to him last summer, and also that he wasn’t cleared for the squash match that took place between him and Moxley on the 8/24/22 episode of Dynamite.

Jon Moxley recently appeared on The Sessions where he noted that he wasn’t under contract with AEW last summer, and that he felt he bent over backwards during his feud with CM Punk. Moxley addressed the general state of AEW during the podcast while saying that the vast majority of people with the company don’t cause problems, but he also acknowledged that he had never seen so much drama in one place in his life.

“I will say this, & I hate to say… I don’t think I’ve ever said anything remotely negative about AEW, But I will say this. As an observer, I spent eight years in the indies, a couple of years in WWE developmental. Eight years in WWE. I have never seen so much b******* drama in one place in my entire f****** life.”

“I hate to say that, and I don’t know if it’s because of the age of social media, s*** gets blown out of proportion, like one person posts a drunk tweet and all of a sudden it’s all everyone wants to talk about…let me be clear. The vast majority of people don’t cause any problems there. But they’re getting sucked down into this s*** like everyone else.”

Jon Moxley first joined AEW in 2019 and has consistently been featured as one of the top stars in the company since then. Last year he managed to become the first ever three time AEW World Champion, and it was also announced that he signed a new deal with the company that will keep him with AEW through 2027.
