CM Punk won the AEW World Championship for the first time in his career when he defeated Adam Page at Double or Nothing in May of 2022. Unfortunately for Punk he suffered an injury a few days later and Jon Moxley became interim AEW World Champion while Punk was sidelined.

When CM Punk returned a few months later Jon Moxley squashed him in a unification match on Dynamite only for CM Punk to defeat Moxley and become AEW World Champion again at All Out a few weeks later. Punk unfortunately had to vacate the title due to injury, and he later claimed in an Instagram post that Jon Moxley refused to lose to him.

Jon Moxley later responded during an appearance on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions when he said that he was tempted to unload, but Moxley restrained himself.

Moxley has mostly remained tight lipped on the CM Punk situation, but he was recently asked about Punk’s WWE return promo during an interview with Comicbook.com. The former AEW World Champion gave an interesting response while confirming that he hasn’t seen the promo

“You don’t want to know what I think. I didn’t see it. You do not want to know what I think (laughs).”

Originally Jon Moxley was set to take a vacation after dropping the AEW World Championship to CM Punk at All Out last year, but his vacation was pushed back as he stepped up to win the AEW World Championship once again after Punk had to vacate the belt due to injury. Moxley is still waiting on that vacation to this day. However, he indicated that he likely wasn’t even going to take it at the time.

“I don’t even think I was going to go anywhere. I don’t know, maybe at some point [I’ll take time off]. I guess I feel that there’s always something to do. Oh, we need a main event. Oh, we got this Continental Classic. There’s always something around the corner.”
