John Cena made his return to the ring at WrestleMania 39 a few weeks ago when he challenged Austin Theory for the United States Championship in the opening match for night 1. Unfortunately for John Cena he was defeated by Austin Theory, but he certainly has plenty of film projects to keep him busy as he moves on from the loss on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
One film that has John Cena’s name attached to it is none other than the Barbie movie. The first trailer for the film recently dropped and fans had a lot of questions when they saw that John Cena had a role in the film that had not yet been revealed. Some footage from the Barbie movie was shown at CinemaCon and several outlets are reporting that Cena is playing a merman.
“It was a like a dopamine hit every time you stepped on set,” Margot said.

DiscussingFilm.net also noted that Cena’s merman character will have long hair in a description of the footage which reads, “John Cena’s merman Ken with long hair is briefly seen in Barbie Land at the beach. Maybe he’s a partner to Dua Lipa’s Mermaid Barbie?”
There’s no denying that this sounds like a bit of a bizarre role for Cena to take on, but he seems to thrive in comedy roles, so we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out. The Barbie movie will arrive in theaters on July 21, 2023. Stay tuned for updates.
