The annual WWE Money in the Bank premium live event kicked off with a bang as the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match opened the show and Drew McIntyre won the contract. The action continued with the second match as Sami Zayn successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.

Trish Stratus then made her way out to introduce the one and only John Cena. The former WWE Champion made his entrance to a huge reaction from the fans in Toronto, and he held up a new towel, and also wore a new shirt with a slogan which said “The Last Time Is Now.”

John Cena got on the mic and said that he’s here to officially announce his retirement from WWE. The fans chanted “No! No! No!” Cena said the fans were probably asking why he would announce his retirement in Toronto. He said throughout his two decades with WWE he’s seen times of great prosperity. Cena said he’s also seen a lot of hardship, and in all those years he learned that whether WWE is hot, or cold, Canadians always show up.

Cena said that next year Raw will make history when it moves to Netflix, and he’ll be there. He said along with those firsts, he’s going to have some lasts. Cena announced that the 2025 Royal Rumble will be his last, the 2025 Elimination Chamber will be his last, and WrestleMania 41 will be the last WrestleMania he competes at.

The 16 time WWE Champion said he’s going to kick off the press conference after the show and answer all questions regarding his retirement. Cena said he wanted to thank the fans and the fans very loudly chanted “Thank you Cena!”

John Cena thanked the fans for letting him be a part of the house they built. He said they’re working to build something special which will also involve him returning to Toronto. Cena said if you’re a fan, or a WWE Superstar, if you want some come get some, because the last time is now.
