Jinder Mahal came out on top last night inside the Punjabi Prison, with all the odds stacked in his favor as both The Singh Brothers and the returning Great Khali found a way to help The Modern Day Maharaja past the 13-time World Champion Randy Orton.
It has become common knowledge that WWE wants to expand their product in India and that was the main reason that Mahal was able to shock the world back at Backlash when he won the WWE Championship for the first time.
It seems that WWE has finally realized that there aren’t as many money making opportunities in India as they first thought, and could well be set to cool off on everything India related in the coming months. This could have an impact on Jinder’s hampionship reign since that is the main reason he is champion, so the likelihood is that he could drop his title at SummerSlam in a month’s time.
It has been well documented that the SmackDown brand has been having a hard time selling tickets for shows since Mahal has become WWE Champion, and Battleground was no exception, with early sales of the show said to be poor.
WWE gave Mahal the title in the hopes that it would be a money making scheme, and it seems that it failed. They have Baron Corbin waiting in the wings with the case ready for the person who finally manages to defeat Mahal, which means that the company will have a number of options when it comes to who Mahal will be dropping the WWE Championship too.
