jinder mahal

Jinder Mahal recently made the jump from Raw to SmackDown Live during the WWE Superstar Shake-up, and he’s currently receiving a huge push on Tuesday nights. Jinder now has The Singh Brothers backing him up, and he’ll be challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Backlash on May 21.

This is Jinder’s first run in the main event scene as during his last stint with the company he was mostly relegated to jobber status and he was significantly smaller. When Mahal returned to WWE a few months ago fans immediately noticed that he was much bigger and much more tone. Steroid accusations have since run rampant on social media, but Jinder insists that his physique is all natural.

The #1 contender for the WWE Championship recently spoke to Sportskeeda about the work that he put in to make the transformation, and Jinder says that consistency is key.

“The secret is consistency. I literally haven’t had a cheat meal in 3-4 months. I haven’t eaten anything I shouldn’t have. Even now, on the tour, I have my cooling bag with me and I carry 5 meals with me so that I eat every 2 hours. I eat 30/40 grammes of carbohydrates, 30/40 grammes of proteins with every meal. Then there’s cardio 6 days a week and weight training 6 days a week. I also became straight-edge. I also do a lot of Olympic compound movements. Then there are lots of basic squats, lots of push-ups and other exercises. Overall, from diet to exercise, I’m seeing good results. I’m going to keep getting in better shape because not only do I look better but I feel better. I feel better inside the ring in terms of stamina and endurance, which is important if I want to become WWE Champion and have long matches every night.”

Jinder is certainly climbing the ladder very quickly in WWE and he says that he will become WWE Champion at Backlash on May 21. As far as his goals after that go, he wants to face the one and only John Cena.

“Yeah, I would like to face John Cena. Hopefully, I will be WWE Champion when the time to face Cena comes.”

Could Randy Orton’s time be up? Is Jinder’s time now? We’ll find out at Backlash.
