Jinder Mahal has been one of the most talked about WWE Superstars in 2017 thanks to his WWE Championship reign which lasted for several months. No one expected Jinder to accomplish what he accomplished this year, and a few weeks ago he almost faced Brock Lesnar in a Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series, but WWE decided to make a switch.
Jinder dropped the WWE Championship to AJ Styles on SmackDown Live in Manchester, England before the pay-per-view, and it was Styles who went on to face Lesnar at the event.
The former WWE Champion recently spoke to Wrestling Inc about being replaced by AJ Styles, and he noted that he didn’t find out until the day he dropped the belt.
“I found the day of, when we got to Manchester. To be honest, I was a little disappointed, I was looking forward to that match. But I know that match is going to happen sometime in the future, and it is up to me to make sure that it happens. And I’m going to make sure that it happens. Either; as I said earlier, there are two ways you can take it. You can either say you’re going to make it happen, or write and do whatever it takes to get there, or you can pour out, boohoo, and blame someone else. But what is meant to be, was meant to be, it will be. And I’m going to make sure that it becomes.”
Jinder and Brock are currently on separate brands, so it seems unlikely that they’ll be facing off anytime soon, but there’s no telling what could happen in the future.
In the meantime, The Modern Day Maharaja will get his chance to win the WWE Championship back when he challenges AJ Styles at Clash of Champions on Sunday night.
