Global Force Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett was Josh Lopez’s special guest on The Pro Wrestling Experience on Chicagolandsportsradio.com. Below are some highlights:

His favorite memories in Chicago:

“Wow, Chicago has always been a wrestling town. Back in the Attitude Era days WCW was running the United Center, there was a SummerSlam in 1994 with WWE… there’s been a lot of moments that I enjoyed, but unfortunately at the Allstate Arena it was the last match Owen Hart had in 1999 when Owen and I took on Edge and Christian. Also dating back on his first show SuperClash in the UIC Pavillion. Chicago is a great wrestling town.”

Wrestling media helping the business grow:

“When you talk about this digital age of wrestling, I think it’s great. Wrestling fans always like to converse about the things they do and don’t like. With social media, the wide range of promotion that’s spread around with New Japan, AAA and the independents, I think the wrestling media has helped make the business healthier.”

State of today’s wrestling:

“It’s really healthy just based on the facts. With New Japan Pro Wrestling and their launch of New Japan World, Triple A the number 1 promotion in Mexico. In the United States you have New Japan on Axs TV, Lucha Underground on the EL Rey Network, TNA moved to Destination America. Obviously the global leader the WWE still with USA Network & Syfy and the launch of WWE NXT on the WWE Network. The business is in a very healthy state and the free agent market is as hot as it ever has been.”

Is Kurt Angle his greatest rival?

“He’s certainly on the top of that list. I also had a great a series of matches with Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon in the WWF in the mid 90’s. I remember that Bound for Glory 2008 match with Kurt in Chicago very fondly. We also had Mick Foley as the special guest enforcer.”

Sting signing with WWE:

“Couldn’t have happened to a better guy, and couldn’t have happened at a better time. I believe obviously time is everything and at this stage of his career with ‘Mania being in his home state, it’s a storybook. Is it the final chapter? I don’t think so, but if it is, what a way to go out. I believe that for the wrestling fans – especially the Sting wrestling fans – it’s going to be awesome to see Sting on that WrestleMania stage.”
