James Ellsworth managed to warm the hearts of millions around the world when he took on Braun Strowman on Raw in 2016, and after a few more appearances on WWE programming, Ellsworth was offered a WWE contract.
However, fans speculated that Ellsworth may be on his way out due to what’s been happening between him and Carmella on SmackDOwn Live, and today the company announced that he’s been released. WWE posted the following announcement:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar James Ellsworth. WWE wishes Ellsworth the best in all of his future endeavors.”
James Ellsworth’s rise to fame seemed to be an unlikely one, but he absolutely maximized his minutes during his appearances on WWE programming, and he even has a few victories over the current WWE Champion AJ Styles.
After finishing up his program with AJ Styles, Ellsworth aligned himself with Carmella and he helped her become the first ever Miss Money In The Bank.
But after Ellsworth faced Becky Lynch on SmackDown Live last week, their relationship became strained, and he was recently beat up by the SmackDown women’s division on WWE’s European tour.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Ellsworth, but one thing’s for sure, his presence on WWE programming will be missed.
