The WWE Queen of the Ring tournament kicked off a few weeks ago and a total of 16 competitors from Raw and SmackDown entered as they attempted to secure a title shot at SummerSlam. Ultimately it was Jade Cargill and Asuka who advanced to the Queen of the Ring finals and they faced off at the Night of Champions premium live event on Saturday.
Asuka dominated the match early on as Jade Cargill struggled to get the upper hand. Eventually Jade blocked a knee from Asuka then countered with a powerbomb. Asuka kicked out at two then applied an armbar. Jade turned it into a pin and Asuka kicked out. Jade went for Jaded as Asuka reversed it and locked in the Asuka Lock. Jade once again turned the submission into a pin and Asuka kicked out at two.
After Asuka kicked out she went for the Empress Impact, but Jade blocked it, picked Asuka up and connected with Jaded to win the match and the Queen of the Ring tournament.
Byron Saxton interviewed Jade Cargill who said that she felt like the world was on her shoulders when she entered the tournament. She finished up the interview by saying that the storm is coming to SummerSlam.
