Anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling and last year Matt Cardona shocked the fans when he entered The Last Time Is Now tournament as Zack Ryder. A few months later he returned to WWE on a full-time basis as Matt Cardona instead of Zack Ryder, and the former Intercontinental Champion is currently part of the SmackDown roster.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that when Matt Cardona returned to WWE earlier this year there was some hope behind the scenes that he would ultimately be presented as Zack Ryder.
The feeling was that the Zack Ryder character was already an established presence in WWE that carried great familiarity with the WWE audience as opposed to the success he achieved as Matt Cardona on the independent scene.
It’s being said that WrestleVotes hasn’t head anything to indicate that a shift back to the Zack Ryder persona is going to happen, but it was noted that it’s a situation worth watching.
