Cody Rhodes stepped into the ring at WrestleMania on Saturday night when he defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Luckily for Cody Rhodes he managed to retain the title, but he was injured during the match.
Following the WrestleMania night 1 main event WWE confirmed that Rhodes had suffered an eye injury as the company posted video footage of Rhodes getting checked out by the medical staff.
PWInsider is reporting that Cody Rhodes was injured when Randy Orton caught him with a punch that cut him right before the eyepoke that led to Randy Orton hitting the RKO on referee Charles Robinson.
During the pre-show for night 2, Jackie Redmond announced that Cody Rhodes is not medically cleared and he needed three sutures to the face and four staples to the back of his head. It was also announced that the impact to Cody’s orbital socket was so severe that his eyes is still completely shut. There is no timetable for his return as of right now.
Cody Rhodes was originally scheduled to appear at WWE World earlier today, but WWE sent out an email announcing that his photo ops and autograph sessions had been canceled.
