Next year will be John Cena’s final year as an active in-ring competitor as he’s confirmed that he will be hanging up his boots when 2025 finally comes to an end.
Ever since John Cena announced his retirement a few months ago fans have been talking about possible dream matches for Cena’s last year as an active wrestler.
Recently Kurt Angle discussed the possibility of him coming out of retirement to face John Cena during an appearance on The Takedown on SI, and Angle made it clear that he’s in no shape to return.
“A lot of people ask me if I’m gonna wrestle Cena for his retirement tour [laughs]. No, no, listen, my body, I have knee replacements, I had five neck surgeries, I had my back surgery last year. I have to have shoulder replacements. I am in no condition to be getting in the ring and wrestling.
Don’t get me wrong, I do some stuff. I don’t think I can get in the ring. I can probably get in the ring and wrestle, but I don’t want to take the chance of getting injured.”
So, it looks like a match with Kurt Angle is definitely off the table, but Cena did recently confirm that he will be entering the Royal Rumble one last time next year.
Stay tuned for updates.
