This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite aired live from the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, and the show featured the return of former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe.

Samoa Joe had been out of action since January, but he returned to the ring on Wednesday night when he faced off against Cody Chhun in a singles match. Joe dominated the short match and he picked up the win after he hit Cody Chhun with the Musclebuster. After the match Samoa Joe walked up the ramp and Hook was waiting for him. They shook hands and left together.

Back in January, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata dropped the AEW World Trios Championship to Adam Page, Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey on the 1/17 episode of Collision. Joe then went on to step in the ring for what was would be his last match for a few months when he defeated Mike Bailey in a singles match on the 1/21 episode of Dynamite. Shortly after it was revealed that Joe had suffered an injury while training, and Hook had been named leader of The Opps in his absence.

Samoa Joe first signed with All Elite Wrestling back in 2022. Since then he’s managed to win numerous titles including the AEW World Championship, TNT Championship, AEW World Trios Championship and ROH World Television Championship.

Stay tuned for updates.
