You never know what’s going to happen when you watch a WWE show and last week’s episode of NXT featured a huge main event as Stephanie Vaquer defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Jacy Jayne. In the end it was Jacy Jayne who shocked the world when she defeated Stephanie Vaquer to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.

During this week’s episode of NXT, Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence made their way to the ring as Jacy cut a promo while she celebrated her big title win. Lainey Reid interrupted Jacy Jayne followed by Lola Vice, Jordynne Grace, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lash Legend. One by one they all explained why they deserve a title shot before a brawl broke out.

The lights went out and when they came back on Mariah May was standing on the stage that’s set up in the audience section overlooking the ring. The fans chanted “Mariah” as she said that she’s finally arrived. Mariah May told Fatal Influence that they can call her the next NXT Women’s Champion. She closed her brief promo by saying that the best women’s division in the world just got more glamorous. It’s worth noting that the announce team did not refer to Mariah May by name.

Mariah May’s profile was recently removed from the All Elite Wrestling roster which immediately led to speculation that she had finished up with AEW. Her WWE debut has been rumored for some time, and now it seems that the former AEW Women’s Champion is going to be a big player in the NXT women’s division moving forward.
