Finn Balor has been out of action since August of 2016 and his presence has certainly been missed by wrestling fans around the world. WWE announced on Wednesday that the first ever Universal Champion would be making a special appearance during the NXT taping at the University of Central Florida, but no one expected Balor to get physical.

According to WWE, Finn Balor has not been medically cleared to return to the ring, but that didn’t stop him from hitting Bobby Roode with a few of his signature moves. As noted, it’s been a while since Finn has been in the ring and it’s been even longer since he’s been in NXT because the former NXT Champion was called up to the main roster in July of 2016.
Following his appearance at the NXT taping on Wednesday night, Balor took to Twitter to let fans know that he really missed the brand.

The reason why Finn Balor came down to the ring was to save Shinsuke Nakamura from a beating at the hands of NXT Champion Bobby Roode. It looks like Shinsuke Nakamura was happy to see Finn Balor once again as he took to Twitter to post the following:

Due to Finn’s NXT return Wednesday night, some fans were worried that Balor might be returning to the brand full time.
Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Finn Balor will be returning to Raw an the plan “has always been” for him to be part of WrestleMania 33, although his current role is unknown at this time.
