Randy Orton has been out of action since May of 2022 and he last competed in the ring when RK-Bro dropped the Raw Tag Team Titles to The Usos. The former WWE Champion underwent back fusion surgery in November of 2022 and there doesn’t seem to be any timetable for a potential return.

Cowboy Bob Orton recently discussed his son’s status during an interview with Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge and he noted that The Viper is training, but doctors have told him not to return to the ring.

“He’s training, so we’ll see what happens; I don’t know. If he feels like going back or he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might. Then again, he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”

It was recently reported that Randy Orton is nowhere close to returning to the ring and there’s currently no word on if that’s still his goal. Last year Randy Orton talked about his future on The Ringer Wrestling Show when he indicated that he hoped to wrestle until he reached 50.

“I’m 41, by the time I’m 50, I think I’m done. I’ll do auditions every once in awhile, but I almost only do them because my wife says, ‘Do them because what if you don’t and then you’ll wonder what if you did.’

“I do auditions here and there, crossing my fingers that I don’t get a callback because I love what I do. I don’t want to stop and I don’t want to have to stop because of my body. I’ve taken it upon myself to make sure I do everything I can upon the daily to where physically I’m able to continue.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Randy Orton ends up getting back in the ring at some point in the future. Stay tuned for updates.
