People often find similarities with current superstars and the legends from days past. So lets take a moment to see which superstars of today would fit in the classic faction known as Degeneration X. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws made up one of the all time greatest factions to ever enter the squared circle. Lets see if we can match up some superstars that could have a chance at reforming DX.

DOLPH ZIGGLER – SHAWN MICHAELS

“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels could have a match with a sponge and it would steal the show. Michaels was someone who always made it his goal to have the best match of the night and almost always delivered just that. While he was with DX he also showed off his knack for finding humor in the most juvenile of things. Dolph Ziggler also plays off on his good looks and could have a match with that same sponge. Ziggler and Michaels both have that innate ability to sell any move that the opponent has to offer no matter how mundane the move is. If Ziggler was given an opportunity to shine in the same role that HBK once did, he’s got the looks, charisma and in ring style to make it work.

SHEAMUS – TRIPLE H

Triple H has the in your face smash mouth style that brought an edge to DX when the bell rang. He also could cut a serious and a funny promo with the best of them. It would take someone on the current roster who can almost match up with those qualities and although like HBK, there will never be another Triple H, Sheamus could fill the role if needed. Sheamus has the same no-nonsense in your face wrestling style as the Game possessed. Sheamus has also shown that he can cut a funny, laugh provoking promo when the time is called upon. Sheamus already has had his run in the main event and has held up his end. The Celtic Warrior is also a hell of a worker in the ring. Many people underrate the pasty Irishman when it comes to his in ring work but if you put him in there with the likes of Del Rio, Ziggler and so on…he puts on great matches…fella.

DEAN AMBROSE – XPAC

X-PAC was always the one in DX that could be described as a loose cannon. He was stellar in the ring and could often cut some very “in your face, straight to the point” promos. Dean Ambrose has taken the WWE universe by storm as of late. Ambrose is one of the best superstars on the mic on the current roster. Where Ambrose doesn’t have the same move set as X-PAC, he more than makes up for it with his “crazy” story telling in the ring. His most recent match with Cesaro left many feeling that match stole the show. Ambrose like X-PAC plays the underdog very well and both guys have the knack for being rude, crude, bad ass mofos.

SLATERGATOR – NEW AGE OUTLAWS

Two teams and four very different men. When Billy Gunn and Road Dogg Jesse James were put together nobody ever thought they would become one of the greatest tag teams to ever hit the ring. I’m not saying SlaterGator has the same future ahead of them but I would love to see the same scenario take place. Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil are two very underutilized talents. Hopefully their partnership will blossom into something that they could be proud of. Admittedly, I’m reaching on this one but screw you guys…Slaters Gonna Slate.

HONORABLE MENTION: ALICA FOX – CHYNA, CHRIS JERICHO – RICK RUDE
