Cody Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39, but unfortunately for Cody he failed to win the gold. The next night his situation got drastically worse when he was beaten down by Brock Lesnar on Raw. The American Nightmare and The Beast Incarnate then kicked off a feud that has been going on for months now.

Back in May, Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar at the Backlash premium live event in Puerto Rico, and Brock Lesnar scored a win over Cody a few weeks later when he defeated him at Night of Champions. The two stars later decided that a third match was necessary and they collided once again at SummerSlam on Saturday night.

Before the bell even rang Cody Rhodes started to attack Brock Lesnar and he hit The Beast Incarnate with the Disaster Kick twice. Rhodes then went for a dive on the outside and dropped Brock Lesnar in front of the announce table. Brock quickly got the momentum back and took Cody to Suplex City inside the ring.

Brock Lesnar then proceeded to dominate the match and destroy Cody Rhodes. He threw Cody out of the ring, but The American Nightmare got back in before the ten count. Brock responded by knocking Cody out of the ring again. When Cody returned to the ring Brock Lesnar hit him with the F5 on the floor. Cody returned to the ring at nine and Brock was not happy about it.

After throwing Cody out of the ring once again Brock Lesnar put The American Nightmare through the announce table with the F5. Cody beat the ten count as Brock looked on in disbelief. Brock hit another German suplex but Cody pulled the turnbuckle pad off as Lesnar grabbed him. They went to the outside and Cody threw Lesnar into the ring post twice then hit him with the ring steps. He followed up with a Disaster Kick then a top rope Cody Cutter, but it wasn’t enough.

Brock Lesnar got Cody Rhodes in the Kimura Lock as Cody reached for the ropes and eventually he got them to break the hold. Brock went for the F5, but Cody pushed him head first into the exposed turnbuckle then Cody put Brock in the Kimura Lock. Lesnar picked Cody up and slammed him into the mat.

Lesnar went for the F5 again which Cody reversed into Cross Rhodes three times then pinned Brock Lesnar to win the match. After the match Brock and Cody stood face to face in the ring as Brock took his gloves off. Brock got in Cody’s face then backed off, shook Cody’s hand, hugged him and lifted up
