Back in November of 2024 the WWE Women’s United States Championship was introduced to the world. Chelsea Green went on to become the first ever WWE Women’s United States Champion in December of that same year when she defeated Michin in the finals of a tournament to crown the inaugural champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The title win was a big moment for Chelsea and she recently explained while speaking with Kat Siggers on Spotlight that she feels the fans forced WWE to give her the belt.
“I won it because the fans got so behind me that they forced WWE to make that decision. Like truly. I felt like I didn’t just win it for myself. I won it for all the people that were cheering for me. The moment that I went to hit my finisher in the ring, like you can see it, feel it, and hear it if you go back and watch those clips. Now, because they pushed so hard for me and we collectively did it, that can never be erased from the history books.
“Until the day that I die, I will always be the first-ever United States Women’s Champion, and I love that. When I think about the packages that you see on TV for the titles, they have to include me because I was the first.”
“It’s an exciting moment for me in my career because I knew there was going to be times when I might win championships and this and that, but you always think like, what are you going to be remembered for? But that’s one thing that I know I will be remembered for.”
