Rhea Ripley defeated Jade Cargill to become the new WWE Women’s Champion at WrestleMania back in April, but Rhea has unfortunately been sidelined since June due to injury. With Rhea unable to wrestle WWE announced that an interim Women’s Champion would be crowned in her absence and a five person ladder match was added to the SummerSlam card.
During night 2 of SummerSlam, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton faced off in the ladder match to determine who would become the interim WWE Women’s Champion.
Lash Legend dominated as soon as the match kicked off and she brought a ladder into the ring then threw Chelsea Green over the barricade. Charlotte prevented Lash from setting up the ladder and Lash bodyslammed Charlotte onto the ladder then tried to set it up again, but Jade Cargill stopped her.
Jade and Lash both teamed up to try and take down Chelsea and Tiffany, but Chelsea and Tiffany got the upper hand instead until Jade and Lash took them both out with stereo pump kicks. Charlotte hit Jade with a crossbody off the top then hit her with a ladder.
Lash knocked Charlotte out of the ring then finally set up a ladder as Stratton hit her with a Codebreaker. Charlotte and Tiffany exchanged strikes after a brief stare down. Charlotte sent Stratton face first into a ladder and Chelsea made the save with a dropkick on Flair as Stratton returned the favor and sent Charlotte face first into the ladder.
Chelsea started climbing the ladder to a big reaction from the crowd, but Jade grabbed her and hit her with Jaded on a ladder that was set up in the corner. Jade almost got to the top of the ladder before Tiffany pulled her off. Stratton hit a Backstabber on Cargill then started clibming.
Charlotte Flair battled with Stratton on the ladder as Lash Legend brought another ladder into the ring. Lash hit Charlotte with the ladder then Tiffany shoved Lash and the ladder into the corner and slammed Legend’s head into it. She pinned Lash in the corner with the ladder then stood on it and Lash chokeslammed Stratton onto the ladder.
Flair caught Legend with a big boot then climbed the ladder. Charlotte grabbed the belt and Jade pulled the ladder out from under her. Charlotte was holding onto the belt as Lash and Jade pulled her down. Lash then hit Jade with a pump kick.
Lash started climbing the ladder again and Tiffany made her way up the other side. They fought at the top and Stratton knocked Lash off. Lash grabbed Tiff and tried to powerbomb her, but Tiff hit her with hurricanrana on the ladder.
Stratton climbed up the ladder and Chelsea Green stepped into the ring then pushed Stratton off which sent her to the outside crashing onto everyone else.
Chelsea made her way up the ladder and it looked like she had it won until B-Fab and Michin ran out and pulled her off. They picked up Jade and rolled her into the ring. As they helped her up the ladder Charlotte took them out and climbed up the other side.
Charlotte and Jade battled at the top of one ladder as Lash and Stratton battled at the top of another while Chelsea was stuck with her legs in the middle ladder.
Jade had her hand on the belt when Charlotte grabbed her. They fell off and rolled out the ring. With everyone down Chelsea Green got back up then climbed the ladder and grabbed the belt to become interim WWE Women’s Champion.
