It’s never easy when a beloved wrestling star passes away, and now the world has unfortunately lost another all time great. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan has passed away according to Jim Ross, and JR broke the news to the world earlier today via Twitter.

Bobby Heenan has been dealing with health issues for years now and in 2002 he announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with throat cancer.

The cancer unfortunately caused Heenan to drop a considerable amount a of weight in the and the tone of his voice was altered. He later had reconstructive surgery on his jaw which became infected but the infection was cured.

Heenan also suffered a fall that caused him to break his shoulder in 2014, and another fall that caused him to break his hip in 2016.

Gene Okerlund also confirmed Heenan’s passing when he posted the following on Facebook:

“Saddened by the news that arrived this afternoon from Bobby Heenans daughter Jess, that he has passed. Bobby and his family have had to endure so much because of his health. Bobby Heenan was such a great friend. You don’t replace people like that. Condolences to Cyndi, Jessica, family, friends and fans. RIP Bobby.”

As of right now the exact cause of his death is unknown at this time.

Bobby Heenan was considered by many to be the greatest professional wrestling managers of all time and he worked with some of the biggest stars in the business including Andre The Giant, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude and more.

Heenan was also praised for his exceptional commentary work with Gorilla Monsoon. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.
